Brett Penslin said crews installed and tested a pump on the splash pad and staff are exploring switching from muriatic acid to a CO2-based treatment, which many municipalities prefer because it reduces chemical fluctuations and is easier to maintain. "It's a lot easier to maintain," Brett said of the CO2 approach, and staff were awaiting a cost estimate this week to confirm whether the change fits the budget.
Seasonal hires will be staggered to provide weekend restroom and garbage checks during peak months; staff aim to have the splash pad operational as soon as chemical and staffing checks are complete and after council-required steps are satisfied.
