Commissioner Jamie Divine announces resignation; board offers tributes

During board reports on July 21, Commissioner Jamie Divine told colleagues he had submitted his resignation effective Nov. 3 as he seeks a district 4 county council seat. "I submitted my resignation effective November 3rd," Divine told the board, adding he will continue to serve through the transition and that swearing-in for the new role is expected in January if successful.

Colleagues offered tributes and thanks for Divine's years of service to the district. Commissioners recognized recent school honors (four schools attended the Visible Learning conference) and extended condolences to families of recently deceased community members recognized by the board. Board members commended Divine as a collaborative and equity-focused leader who has worked on student achievement, school choice, technology access and other initiatives over nearly two decades of service.

Commissioners said they will continue board work through the fall and noted at least six more regular meetings and committee sessions before Divine's departure, providing opportunities for continued leadership and transition planning.
