The council authorized $89,445 from the capital improvement fund for renovations at 136 South Cherokee Road to prepare downtown space for prospective tenants. Eric described the scope as installing a floating floor system to create an accessible subfloor, storefront renovation, and replacement of a back door. He said the space measures roughly 2,400 to 2,700 square feet and broke out estimated costs: flooring installation $37,140 and storefront renovation $41,625.
Staff said the floating floor will be a 3/4-inch subfloor decking tongue-and-groove system laid as a removable floating floor to allow future tenant-specific finishes without tearing out structural elements. Council members asked for cost detail to judge value; staff indicated line-item breakdowns were included in the council packet. The motion to approve passed by voice vote.
The work is intended to accelerate downtown occupancy by allowing faster tenant turnover and minimizing future finish costs for incoming tenants.
