Altadena Library District reports construction, passport and mobile services during main branch rebuild

Altadena Library District Director Nikki Winslow told the council the main library is under construction and staff expect a 14–18 month timeline for demolition and rebuild work. "Our main library is officially under construction," Winslow said, and she encouraged residents to view ongoing updates on the district’s 'next chapter' web page.
While the main site is closed, the district is operating passport services at the Altadena Community Center (by appointment), expanding weekend passport access at the Bob Lucas branch and offering free notary services at two locations. The district also runs two mobile 'Curiosity Connections' units that visit six weekly stops (including Grocery Outlet, Webster's, Triangle Park and Kids Space). Winslow highlighted outreach programs including a summer reading challenge and noted two library board seats are open with an Aug. 7 filing deadline for interested residents.
