Richland One School Board on July 21 honored its longtime partnership with Prisma Health, presenting ceremonial checks and celebrating what the district described as a milestone in its Walk for Life fundraising.
"We are exceptionally proud to have reached the half million dollar fundraising mark since 2010," said Tanya Bouian Rayo, the district's new chief communications and engagement officer, as she introduced Prisma Health representatives. Commissioner Weston led the recognition and invited district fundraising leaders and Prisma staff to accept the presentation.
Anthony Jackson, senior vice president for service lines and chief community officer for Prisma Health, thanked the district and said proceeds from Walk for Life have funded equipment and outreach. "Richland One is truly a pillar of the Midlands community and a vital partner of Prisma Health Walk for Life," Jackson said, noting the campaign has purchased digital mammography units and educational materials for area breast centers.
The district encouraged participation in the next Walk for Life events and recognized Dr. Tracy Cooper for leading the Richland One effort. The presentation also included a reminder about the event date (the district announced an October Walk for Life in the fall calendar) and a group photo invitation for district leaders and Prisma staff.
