Council members were briefed that recreation ran last year’s fall festival but the city is seeking an outside group to steward the event this year. Staff said they have a written pitch for a nonprofit that has “done amazing things in our community already” and would benefit the event; staff asked council for questions or concerns.
The council discussed options including PTOs, sports teams or a reactivated recreation board to manage booth fees and fundraising. Council members noted booth rentals were not charged last year and suggested groups that would both run the event and raise funds for local organizations might be preferable. No formal motion or vote was taken on the item during the discussion.
