Water chief: hospital waterline tie-in planned; drought monitoring ongoing

Chief water operator Wes Lambert told council that during the week of Aug. 5-9 a contractor will bore and install an 8-inch waterline to serve the new UHC hospital and that staff expect to tie into the existing 8-inch line on the rail trail the following week. Lambert said the city will provide advance notification before any planned water shutoff because that line is the main feed for Leedsville PSD.
Lambert described work underway on water-system cybersecurity following an assessment and said staff will buy a fireproof safe to secure critical documents. He also listed August training and conferences for water staff and noted drought conditions declared by the governor on July 26: "so as of right now ... folks can continue to use water as normal; if that would happen to change we'll get the word out as soon as possible," Lambert said, adding that staff are monitoring inlet works to protect reservoir levels.
