District officials said the IDEA grant will fund sensory rooms at Proviso East and Proviso West to support students with IEPs and 504 plans. "We are working to put that together... it is paid for entirely with the IDEA grant," the presenter said.
Officials said they are in conversations with a vendor (named in the presentation) and with several universities about a cohort to provide LBS1 endorsements for general-education teachers. The presenter listed Dominican University, Lewis University and other partners as potential collaborators and said course size and delivery will depend on university partners. "The university kind of decides" on cohort size, she said.
District leaders tied the cohort and sensory-room work to broader goals of keeping students in district settings where appropriate and expanding in-house capacity to reduce costly outplacements.
