Council finalizes July 4 planning details, delegates plaque selection to committee

Council reviewed the July 4 schedule and logistics, including parade timing, breakfast plans, bandstand acts and electrical needs. Staff and volunteers will coordinate booths and the youth council was suggested as a source of volunteers for children’s activities. The council asked the July 4 committee to select and finalize nominees for grand marshal, business of the year and citizen of the year so plaques can be prepared in time for the celebration.
A council member read a list of nominees and the council agreed it was acceptable to delegate final selection to Marjorie and the July 4 committee; staff was asked to circulate the list and to obtain plaques prior to the event. Council members also confirmed volunteer and booth arrangements, and noted the need for additional power and logistical support for bands and breakfast services.
