Cameron Schmidt, the facility supervisor at Veterans Memorial Park, described the pool repairs and temporary fixes that allowed staff to reopen the pool on June 10. "But so we were able to finally open uh on June 10th," Schmidt said, noting staff patched liner punctures, repaired fencing, removed debris and passed county inspection on the first attempt.
Schmidt also said some amenities will remain closed for the season — notably the water slide, which required repairs before the tornado and sustained additional damage — and that staff directed customers to alternate facilities when appropriate. He reported strong public demand: in the first five days after reopening more than 1,600 people visited the pool and early swim-lesson sessions filled about 59% and 71% of available spots for sessions one and two, respectively. Staff said they will continue monitoring roof leaks and mechanical systems and will provide updates as final assessments are completed.
