The Fremont City Council adopted Ordinance 57-40 on final reading after a staff presentation and a successful motion to amend and suspend rules. Jennifer McDuffie, the city's director of human resources, said the package adds a budgeted safety director position, creates a new energy analyst classification (to replace an existing position at the same pay grade), and corrects a Scrivener's error that mislisted the GIS analyst pay grade.
McDuffie told the council the safety director "would be someone to lead to formalize more of the things that we have going on, help direct the safety functions." Council moved to amend the ordinance to correct the GIS analyst pay grade and then voted to suspend rules and proceed to third and final reading; the final adoption was recorded 8–0.
