Staff and commissioners said because the deck already exists they would limit future work: the approval requires the structure remain an open deck (no roof or enclosed living space) and that any further renovations return to the commission for review. A commissioner said an approval letter with those conditions should be filed on the land records to prevent future noncompliance.
The commission also required that the owners submit detailed dimensions and a diagram with their building permit application so staff and the building official can verify what was constructed. The motion to approve with the land-records filing and dimension submittal passed with unanimous support among members present.
Next step: staff will prepare written approval reflecting the conditions and notify the property owners of the documentation they must provide.
