The council on July 21 adopted Resolution 2026-54 authorizing the mayor to enter into a cooperative agreement with the city of Lyndhurst for resurfacing Mayfield Road, part of a project extending into neighboring jurisdictions.
Staff explained the ODOT project extends within the municipal limits of Lyndhurst, Mayfield Heights and South Euclid. "Per the agreement, the Mayfield Heights construction costs are $247,000.942, which 80% is covered by federal funding," staff stated. Councilmember Talbot asked what "ineligible construction costs" might include; an ODOT representative explained ineligible costs would be city-requested additions not necessary for resurfacing (for example, replacing aprons that do not need replacement), but not the resurfacing itself.
After clarification, the council voted to adopt the cooperative agreement resolution. The agreement authorizes the city to enter necessary contracts with the director of transportation to proceed with the project.
