Council approves GPD Group contract for police locker-room design, construction administration

The City of Mayfield Heights on July 21 approved Resolution 2026-51 authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with GPD Group to provide professional architectural and engineering services for a police department locker-room renovation.
Councilmember LaGrosso said the contract provides design services not to exceed $32,350 and construction administration not to exceed $15,650. "GPD Group has reposed by letter dated June 2026 to provide services for the renovation of the police department, not to exceed the sum of 32,350 for the design with an additional 15,650 for the construction administration," the chair read when introducing the item. Councilmember Buffa asked whether the items listed as "not included" in the proposal were standard; staff responded they were typical for interior renovations. Councilmember Talbot pressed for clarification about prevailing wage language and who the owner is; staff confirmed the city is the owner and will be responsible for prevailing-wage obligations during construction oversight.
After questions, the council voted to adopt the resolution. The contract now may proceed to design and construction-administration phases per the approved amounts.
