Residents urge action on speeding, Amazon traffic and loose dogs near Douglas Avenue

During the meeting's public-comment period, multiple residents described daily safety challenges on Douglas Avenue and nearby streets. One resident said early-morning traffic near Douglas and Ivy felt like "a racetrack," causing them to avoid crossing at certain points, and another urged the council to address recurring loose-dog incidents on Eastwood Drive that have resulted in several encounters while walking pets.

Council members acknowledged the concerns and noted that much of the affected roadway lies in county jurisdiction, which complicates immediate city action. Council and staff said they would reach out to county counterparts and police to explore enforcement and outreach options. Michael Johnson, an Eastbrook Drive resident who spoke at the hearing, urged action to prevent future incidents and cited long-standing neighborhood worries.
