Mark, a representative of the regional transit authority, told the finance committee the Go Local sponsorship lets riders take reduced-fare trips inside city limits and that the system logged roughly 16,000 trips this year, about 2,000 more than last year. "About 4,800 of those trips involve Red Bud," he said, adding that local ridership drives both resident mobility and visits to downtown businesses.
Mark and Angelo also described a new FlexZone service that began May 4, which runs five times daily and allows same-day short trips within town at a reduced partner fare. The presenters said Go Local is a one-dollar-per-capita sponsorship tied to the 2020 census; the existing contract term runs through June 30 and the committee voted to renew for the coming fiscal year, with formal execution at the next council meeting. Committee members said they appreciated increases in ridership but asked staff to bring final contract paperwork to the council for signature.
Action: committee voted to recommend renewal of the Go Local contract; staff were asked to file paperwork so the full council can ratify the agreement.
