Council hears fire company update after Wendy’s CO2 leak; CERT recruitment and preparedness seminar announced

Public Safety Chair Larry Browne summarized Emergency Services Department and Doylestown Fire Company reports included in the council packet. He reported that on June 12 the fire company responded to a building incident at Wendy’s at 9:41 p.m. that turned out to involve a major CO2 leak; he praised the company’s response for preventing what could have been a catastrophe. He also noted a kratom-related enforcement action: Mr. Fleischer issued one letter or citation in May related to the Borough’s kratom ordinance.
Mr. Browne said the fire company will form a steering committee with the five municipalities it serves to assess needs; he noted the company faces a sizable deficit this year. He added that CERT signup will open on SERVPA, recruitment starts in July, and a preparedness seminar is scheduled July 21 at Borough Hall at 7 p.m.
