Superintendent: scoreboard and track work progressing; district to run HazMat exercise Sept. 16 with Knox County EMA

The superintendent updated the board on visible facilities work and upcoming safety planning. "A few things to update you on. Really one that's highly visible is the field and the track down there," he said, and noted the scoreboard was expected to arrive by the end of the week while polyurethane surfacing for the track was scheduled shortly thereafter.
He also told board members the district is planning a functional exercise with Knox County EMA for Sept. 16 to simulate a hazardous-materials incident that could affect the school. "This is also not just for the school itself, but it's also with our first responders, our partners there from fire, local law enforcement, Frederick town police, maybe in Ohio State Patrol, also then EMS as well," he said. Staff safety presentations and preparation for the simulation are scheduled the day before school, Aug. 19.
The superintendent framed the exercise as part of routine safety collaboration with local emergency partners; the board expressed support and said administrators would be briefed further at the August special meeting.
