The Mosinee School District athletic director presented a year‑end review showing increased student participation and program successes, and announced new on‑site athletic training coverage.
Presenters said 416 middle‑school students and 510 high‑school students participated across fall, winter and spring sports, up from the prior year. The district reported more than 350 hosted athletic events last year and several notable competitive achievements, including four conference championships and multiple regional and state appearances.
The athletic director described preseason meetings for parents, students and coaches, concussion baseline impact testing offered at meetings, and coach requirements including CPR/first aid and WIAA rules review. “At all of our meetings, also, we also talked about the importance of concussion protocol, the return to play,” the athletic director said.
The district also announced a new athletic training contract with Orthopedic Associates of Wausau; Megan Stankowski, a physical therapist and licensed athletic trainer, will serve on site as the athletic trainer. The administration said Orthopedics will host complimentary sports physicals and the district is coordinating on‑site offerings for families in August.
Board members asked about participation data for non‑sport extracurricular activities and were told the district tracks those numbers and can share trend data in future reports.
The board thanked athletic staff for increased community engagement and program oversight.
