Council flags rising street project costs, may scale back plans

Mayor Al Cerny reported the City of Gregory—xpects the current street project to cost more than last year because of price increases and a decision to cover additional square yards, and he told the Council the work plan may need revision to lower total costs. The update was given during department reports at the May 19 meeting; the city also scheduled a Phase I construction meeting for May 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
Council members did not take a final vote on design changes at the meeting but instructed staff to revisit the plans with cost reduction in mind. Finance Officer Trudy Waterman provided other department updates in the same report, including a photo of newly installed ballfield cameras. The Council did not specify a revised cost estimate at the meeting.
