Council schedules follow-up workshops and flags clerk-treasurer absence

Several council members pressed for department-head participation and for the clerk-treasurer to attend sessions used to document financial decisions. Committee member (S7) said he objected to proceeding without the clerk present: "...if the mayor is the CEO of the city, our CFO would be the clerk treasurer, and they're not here." Presenter (S1) said he had spoken with the clerk and that staff could arrange targeted department workshops before the next council meeting.
Members tentatively agreed to an hour-long workshop on Aug. 6 at 5:30 p.m. for select department heads (Chuck and Jimmy were requested) and a fuller session on Aug. 13 to review remaining departments. Council members asked staff to email department heads to confirm attendance and to provide a breakdown of payments and outstanding equipment financing.
