Volunteers of America opens Somerset recovery center with state support

Volunteers of America President and CEO Jennifer Hancock opened the event in Somerset, Pulaski County, thanking local leaders and outlining the agency’s program mix, which includes addiction recovery services, veteran services, housing and restorative-justice programs. Hancock said the Manchester site opened in 2019 served as a model for the new center and highlighted local partnerships that helped bring services to three counties.
"We are so glad to have you at our recovery Community Center," Hancock said, and she credited local mayors, judges and the Somerset–Pulaski Chamber of Commerce for supporting the center’s launch. Hancock said the center provides peer recovery support, sober social events and education for those in long-term recovery and their families, and that the organization emphasizes measurable outcomes over outputs. The event included a site visit by Attorney General Russell Coleman and staff from the Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission.
