The Boone County Board of Zoning Appeals opened its July 1 meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and a public-service announcement cautioning petitioners against wire-transfer payment scams. "Boone County does not request payments to be made by wire transfer," the presiding official, John Merson, said, urging anyone who receives a payment request by email to contact the office.
After roll call and introductions, the board moved, seconded and approved changes to the minutes from the fourth meeting. Staff announced that one petition (Thoroughkill Farms) would be tabled for lack of proper notice. The board then reviewed public-hearing procedures for petitioners, including a requirement to state name and address and to sign a form before speaking.
