At the May 26 meeting the Fairmont City Council approved a slate of reappointments and appointments to local boards and commissions. Reappointments to the Arts and Humanities Commission included Treasure Wyckoff, Christian Cox, and Chayla Oliveto (three-year terms to expire June 30, 2029); appointments to the Board of Zoning Appeals included Laura Candell and Dan Sweiger; and Chris Yost was appointed to the Planning Commission to fill an unexpired three-year term ending Sept. 17, 2026.
Council members moved and seconded each nomination, held brief discussion in support (the city manager and a councilmember noted the Planning Commission's upcoming role in a comprehensive plan process), and recorded roll-call votes approving each appointment. One councilmember noted that Planning Commission members will need to attend public engagement events for the city's upcoming comprehensive plan; the recommending councilmember said he had "full faith and confidence" in Chris Yost's participation. Council congratulated Mr. Yost in person during the meeting.
