The Town of Farmington Historic District Commission on July 21 approved a temporary certificate of appropriateness for work at 772 Farmington Avenue, where owner Bruce Hunter (FIRM LLC) replaced an older exposed oil tank and installed a screening panel and bollards.
“My name is Bruce Hunter. I am the owner of the property, at 772 Farmington Avenue,” Hunter said in his presentation, and later apologized: “I should have gone through the appropriate steps” before proceeding. Hunter told the commission the existing tank was rusted and exposed, and described replacing the older 275‑gallon tank with a horizontal 330‑gallon model, reinstalling bollards and adding siding to match the building.
Commission members asked about size, visibility and aesthetics and generally agreed the new installation was an improvement. A motion to approve the temporary certificate of appropriateness for replacement of the oil tank and installation of the screening panel was made, seconded, and carried on the record with no opposition called. The chair thanked Hunter and closed that public hearing.
