Resident says city should remove dangerous Harrison Road tree after near-miss

Shane Morris told council that on the evening of July 13 a white oak had fallen across Harrison Road, bringing down power lines and blocking both lanes. Morris said he has driven his family under that tree many times and had requested the tree be cut two years earlier; he described the situation as a near-fatal hazard and asked city officials to get to the bottom of the delay.
"If my family we were about a minute and 30 seconds away from that tree. We'd all been killed," Morris said. He asked the council to examine why the city's public-works response had not removed the hazard sooner and to act to prevent similar risks on other rights-of-way. Council members thanked Morris and said they would take his comments under advisement; no specific directive or service order was recorded in the meeting minutes.
