Sewer lining resolves gym-floor backups; board backs low boiler bid for architect review

"There was no backups in that manhole. There was no water on the gym floor," the superintendent reported, and staff said the additional lining work—outside the building though not in the original scope—was important to prevent recurring interior problems.
On a related facilities item, the board reviewed bids for a boiler replacement at the building. Three bids were submitted; staff reported the apparent low bidder as Glady Plumbing and Piping at $124,970, with the second-lowest bid at $132,960. The board moved to recommend the low bid to city council subject to architect review; the roll call recorded six ayes, zero nays and one abstention.
The chair noted the boiler work is budgeted from the ESU capital appropriation previously discussed and will appear on the August city council agenda for final action.
