The Macon-Bibb County Commission approved an independent contractor agreement with Professional Paving Services LLC for $3,280,877.09 to perform asphalt paving and resurfacing, to be paid from 2026 LRA grant funds and SPOS funds.
Commissioner Cato pressed county staff for clarity on when roads in her district would be paved, saying some streets in her area had not yet been paved despite earlier lists. The mayor and staff said the full list of roads covered by the contract is part of the bid documentation posted online and that the county uses a scoring system (length, grade, travel patterns) to prioritize work. "That list is posted online as part of this bid process, and you should already been able to review that," the mayor said.
Staff said projects are often grouped to get efficiency from contractors and that multiple bid sets are released over time; commissioners were told Clay Murphy and the engineering/procurement teams can provide parcel-level or road-specific status updates. The contract was moved, seconded and approved for the consent agenda.
