At the public-comment portion of the meeting, resident Steve Johnson (507 High Street) appealed to council for clarity on planning and infrastructure.
Johnson said he owns properties on High Street and asked directly “who the gonna be the planner… City planner now,” saying he believed Kyle had left and that he needed to know “what I can do and what I can't do” for upcoming projects. He also described a local drainage issue: after he fixed water at his property, water ran across the street near 5th Street and culverts appeared to be plugged.
Johnson asked how a proposed stadium development nearby would affect Edwardsville: whether the city could “take advantage of that” or be left out, and how property taxes and local benefits might be affected. Councilors and staff replied with process information and said staff would follow up to identify the appropriate planner and address drainage and culvert maintenance concerns.
No formal action was taken; staff directed follow-up to connect Johnson with planning staff and public-works for the drainage issues.
