The Macon-Bibb County Commission approved a professional-services agreement with Air Media Corp (DBA H.M. Strategic Consulting) in the amount of $1,149,950 to provide IT staffing services already budgeted in the FY2026 appropriation.
IT Director T. Watson said the county has been short "anywhere from 11 to 14 employees" in the IT department and that the intent of the contract is to bring on 11 people to fill specific roles and rotate staff through departments, including periodic in‑field support to the jail, fire department and other city/county locations. "So that's the intent. So we'll have 11 people coming on board, fulfilling various positions," Watson said.
Commissioners discussed roles, coverage and whether staff will be primarily in-house or deployed to specific facilities; Watson said positions will be mixed and rotated to ensure adequate coverage. The agreement was moved, seconded and approved for placement on the consent agenda.
