The Edwardsville City Council voted unanimously to authorize the city manager to purchase a 2026 Ford F-150 and associated equipment for public works.
Brian Hutchison, the staff presenter, told the council the recommendation is “for the city council to consider authorizing city manager to purchase a 2026 F-150 from Mission Ford,” and that the procurement includes installation of strobe lights, toolbox, two-way radio, decals and related equipment. Hutchison said the older truck’s odometer was not working, the vehicle is likely around 90,000 miles and that transmission repairs alone approached the quoted $9,000 estimate.
Staff said the all-in cost will be paid from the special sales tax fund budgeted for 2026. Council members asked about timeline and availability; staff replied the vehicle likely will be available in about three months and that the procurement was sourced through bids with Shawnee Mission Ford selected.
The city recorded a 5-0 vote in favor of the authorization. Staff will complete the purchase and schedule equipment installation as budgeted.
