Willow Springs approves parade, plans hometown celebration for American Idol finalist

City Administrator Beverly Hicks informed the council that local resident Hannah Harper placed in the top 7 on American Idol and the Chamber proposed a hometown celebration on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Chamber Director Kim McCormick asked for permission to use city streets for a parade that would start at Booster Field and end at the high school gymnasium parking lot.
The council voted 4-0 to approve the Chamber’s request. Hicks noted that if Harper advances to the top 3 (a result to be known May 4), Idol producers may arrange a visit on May 6; the planned celebration and parade remain scheduled for May 6 in either case.
