Residents voice opposition to Murphy Dam removal and press for code enforcement

During the public-comment portion of the June 24 session, a number of residents spoke in opposition to the matter of the Murphy Dam removal and urged the Board to oppose or reconsider the proposal. Speakers who raised opposition included Kristin Bryke, Mark Jones, Arden Sled, Joseph Crow, Herman Berchiger Senior, Thoren Alberston and Andrea Applegate.
Other public commenters, including Bernice Strange and Steve Strange, urged stronger code enforcement, and Strange submitted photographs of a rural business said to be operating without required permits (Exhibit 2). The Board acknowledged receipt of the photographs and public concerns; no formal action on Murphy Dam removal or code enforcement was taken at the June 24 session.
