Facilities committee updates: High School South door project, indoor-air sensors and facility-use rates under review

The Facilities Committee updated the board on several operational projects and near-term capital steps.
Committee members reported that the Verizon easement was pulled from tonight’s voting agenda and that the High School South exterior door replacement will be included in a July resolution to submit schematic plans to the NJ Department of Education as the initial step; the next step after NJDOE review will be putting the project out to bid. The committee noted supply lead times for doors may delay completion.
Facilities staff said the district ordered several indoor environmental-quality sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds and particulate matter in spaces with reported concerns; the data will guide remediation. The committee reviewed water-intrusion responses after heavy rain that affected basements and lower levels in multiple buildings (Bayshore, Leonardo, High School North and Bayview), noting cleanup and dehumidification occurred and monitoring continued.
The committee also discussed vehicle lease purchases to be finalized for the 27/28 budget, the High School North baseball field progress, and a review of the Operation Hero work-order dashboard (the district logged roughly 9,000 work orders over the past three years). Committee members signaled they will analyze current facility-use rates and consider increases for middle- and high-school gym rentals in the 27/28 budget.
