Two-year committee previews Single Admissions File changes and Credit-for-Prior-Learning data

Angela DeWolf King, Director of Transfer and Special Projects, presented proposed changes to MUS Policy 301.5.4 (Single Admissions File), including migration of the document to an online format, removal of the student fee, and clarification about what information would be shared through the file. She said the proposed changes are expected on the May agenda as an action item.
Chase Stahl and Jacque Treaster provided a Credit-for-Prior-Learning update. Stahl reported that roughly 21% of the overall undergraduate population since 2016 has CPL credits, with about 90% of CPL credits coming from International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced Placement (AP). For in-state recent high school graduates, about 18% of incoming students had AP or IB credits for 2024–25, compared with 31% for out-of-state students. He also said less than 20% of veteran students had CPL credits from military training recorded on their Joint Services Transcript; staff are working to increase consistency for non-AP/IB CPL credits and to incorporate military and credential equivalencies into common course numbering.
