Council approves easement for kayak/canoe launch at American Legion ball field

Union City Borough Council on Aug. 13 approved an easement with the American Legion to install and maintain a kayak and canoe launch at the ball field along French Creek. The motion, moved by Councilor Osborn and seconded by Councilor Joyce, passed unanimously. Solicitor Tim Wachter will prepare the easement documents.
Council minutes state the launch will be funded with grants from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council. The project is intended for public recreational access to French Creek; the minutes do not include a construction schedule or estimated cost.
