Resident Mark Worth urges Mancos trustees to honor 1960 water easement

At the start of audience business, resident Mark Worth told trustees that his property supplies the town’s water and urged the board to enforce a 1960 agreement that, he said, called for two taps into the main flow line and compensation for the use of the land.
“I’m asking you for the 2nd raw water tap from a main flow line that was a small fraction of water exchanged for the use of this land called out in the 1960 agreement,” Worth said. He told the trustees that an abandoned, replaced pipeline does not meet the obligation spelled out in the 1960 agreement and asked the board to instruct the manager to allow installation of the second tap.
Worth also raised concerns about who the town’s attorney had identified as entitled to compensation for the land, saying his family had not been offered compensation. He emphasized the request as an implementation of an existing agreement rather than a request for new legislation: “No further legislation is required. It’s already in place.”
The trustees did not take formal action during audience business; Worth’s request was raised during the public-comment portion and the board did not vote on the matter at that time.
