At a brief public hearing the Swanzey Planning Board adopted a clarifying amendment to section 7, article 6(d) of the town’s site-plan review regulations that narrows the instances in which a registered engineer or surveyor must sign a site plan. Chair Victoria Lehi Aimes read the proposed text and explained the revision would require two copies of the site plan to be signed by the chair and would require a registered engineer or surveyor to sign the plan only “if applicable” — that is, only when an engineer or surveyor was used to create the plat.
After short board discussion confirming the language belonged in the regulation, a motion to adopt the amendment was moved and seconded, the public hearing was closed, and the board voted to carry the motion. The change is intended to prevent certificates of occupancy from being delayed in cases where a plat was prepared without an engineer or surveyor, while keeping the requirement in cases where professional certification was used.
