Resident offers $11,000 to buy unused town lot next to his property

Andy Craft, who identified himself during public comment, asked the Rangely Town Council on April 8 to consider selling an unused town-owned lot next to his home at 1227 Desirado Drive. "I want to make a formal offer of $11,000," Craft said, adding he has mowed and maintained the lot and would combine it with his parcel to total about 0.35 of an acre.
Craft said he researched market valuations and cited an approximate square-foot price used in his calculations. Council members thanked him for following the proper channels and said town staff and the new town manager would review the request and discuss options. The clerk noted such property transfers are typically handled through town staff and may require further appraisal and formal action at a future meeting.
Council did not vote on the request at the April 8 meeting. Staff said they would discuss the inquiry with the town manager and report back; Craft said he was open to negotiation and appreciated the council hearing his proposal.
