A colonel representing the base praised the local push for the program, calling Enid and Vance a strong fit for future pilot training. “Enid, Vance Air Force Base, is the perfect place to train the next generation of pilots,” he said, and confirmed the T-7 assignment “with that max amount.” Board members said the community and congressional partners were essential contributors to the outcome.
While the decision was framed as a win for regional economic and mission continuity, officials stressed the work that remains: housing, water and power resiliency, and facility recapitalization to support training growth. No new formal missions or base realignments were approved by the authority during the meeting; the discussion focused on follow-up infrastructure and partnership steps.
