At a public hearing on Aug. 28, applicant Nolan Whiting requested a one‑foot height variance to permit a 36‑foot maximum height for a house at 400 S Main St., exceeding the 35‑foot maximum in the current code. Whiting said the work is part of restoring the house to its original state and noted coordination with the South Dakota Historical Society in the restoration plan.
On a motion by Brady Gaddis seconded by Kristi Gambs, the Humboldt Planning and Zoning Board voted unanimously to recommend approval of the variance to the City Board. The board’s recommendation will be transmitted to the City Board for final action.
