The Sumpter City Council heard an update that the town’s wastewater upgrade will likely be delayed while the city addresses questions raised by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).
Chair (speaker 1) said the contractor HePro provided technical responses to DEQ’s concerns and an expert has been handling technical communications. "We probably won't be going forward with the project until the May round... because we have to have our archeology study done," Chair said, describing the timeline and the need for final written guidance from DEQ before the city proceeds with grant filings or construction.
Councilors agreed to wait for DEQ’s written responses and for completion of required studies before scheduling procurement or applying for construction grants. Chair emphasized the city will follow DEQ direction and return to the council once required items are in place.
