Sumpter adopts fees and new rules for Blue Mountain Cemetery

The Sumpter City Council approved two resolutions to set fees and rules for Blue Mountain Cemetery.
Clerk (speaker 5) read Resolution 445-26, which sets the cemetery fee schedule including a lot-transfer fee, burial/excavation fees and a 10% discount for purchases of three or more plots. "A resolution setting fees and city policy for Blue Mountain Cemetery," the clerk said while reading the schedule.
The council also reviewed Resolution 446-26, which Clerk (speaker 5) read aloud as a set of rules and regulations. The rules state, among other items, that "only human remains are permitted for burial in the cemetery," temporary markers may remain for up to 90 days pending installation of a permanent headstone, and "all transfers are subject to a nominal transfer fee payable to the city" and must be recorded at Sumpter City Hall.
Additional items in the rules include a required outer burial container for internments, restrictions on decorations (glass containers should be minimized), a 10 mph speed limit for vehicles in the cemetery and a prohibition on fireworks. The city will conduct annual community cleanup events and reserves the right to remove unsafe or overgrown decorations.
Councilors noted a few typographical edits during the readings and then moved to adopt the resolutions; motions were seconded and both measures passed by voice vote.
