Committee staff told members that the budget secretary position is required under Oregon statute and that combining that role with the delegate authority to approve minutes would consolidate duties. "The budget secretary position is, required by Oregon statute," the clerk explained, and staff recommended the two responsibilities be combined into a single role.
A member moved to combine the positions, the motion was seconded and approved by show of hands. A nomination followed to fill the combined position; Sandy Smith was nominated, seconded and confirmed by voice vote. The committee recorded the appointment and moved on to the administrator's budget message.
The committee recorded several members as excused during roll call; the combined role will allow a designated official to sign minutes without waiting for a later meeting.
