Board approves lighting purchase and installation for Artcraft Alley after contractor finds defective fixtures

Dana said staff can procure the fixtures at lower cost by purchasing directly through an online vendor and retain Houston Electric to perform the installation.
Board members discussed whether replacing fixtures is a new project subject to the contract amendment 20% limit. A board member said the work is a continuation of the existing installation and "not a new public works project." Members also debated fixture quality and whether to keep spares; one member noted fixtures have lasted about five years in prior temporary installations.
