Irondale council approves library support, moves forward with bookmobile outfitting

The Friends' president said, “This year alone, we have donated $9,500 to the library,” and described a July 11 brunch that raised $13,000. Mayor Stewart said Mercedes donated a 2027 Sprinter chassis and the Friends have committed $25,000 toward outfitting; the mayor said the city will pursue additional fundraising so the general fund is not used to pay for the vehicle.
Council members unanimously left both items on consent; outreach and fundraising for the bookmobile will continue before the remaining outfitting costs are expended.
