Council approved an ordinance to authorize the annual disposition of parcels to nonprofit housing partners to support construction of single-family, owner-occupied affordable homes. Jan Lauterbach of Housing and Neighborhood Services said the action is permitted under the State of New Mexico's Affordable Housing Act and the city's affordable housing ordinance and that liens would be filed to ensure long-term affordability.
The ordinance allows an administrative modification to annual totals if agency capacity changes. Lauterbach explained that the city previously approved purchase of a 52-lot subdivision in Metro Arcadia Phase 4, and the disposition supports several city plans to expand affordable homeownership. Council voted to approve the ordinance.
