PBSO reports drop in vehicle burglaries; Fire Rescue logs 15 calls with 5:50 average response time

Deputy Ekstrom of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office told the council there had been a decrease in vehicle burglaries over the past 30 days but cited one home burglary and two assaults during the same period. He also reported an increase in shoplifting incidents at a local 7-Eleven and said deputies made 227 patrols in the area. Ekstrom urged residents to lock vehicles and homes and keep outdoor lighting on at night.
Chief Martinez of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue reported 15 calls in the past 30 days with an average response time of 5 minutes 50 seconds and a turnout time of 30 seconds. The call breakdown included 11 medical calls, three vehicle accidents and one alarm. Martinez said he attended a Palm Beach County hurricane drill and reminded residents to check generators and run them outside away from openings.
Both public-safety representatives emphasized preventative measures for residents and noted ongoing county planning and drills aimed at improving response and readiness.
