Planning Board and staff to refine technical diagnostics and code guidance for adaptation work

The Planning Board, led by Chair Revak, took up the Adaptation Plan after the council’s initial discussion and provided technical input. Planning Board member Oebbecke suggested prioritizing hardening Hotspot D (the civic and emergency services corridor), and the board expressed support for completing a SLOSH (Sea Lake and Overland Surges from Hurricanes) diagnostic to refine surge-risk mapping.
Councilmember White also suggested the Planning Board begin reviewing staff-prepared guidelines addressing requirements in the Town’s Land Use and Development Code; board members discussed what actions could be taken now that would not be precluded by SB 180. The board supported by consensus the incorporation of Council-directed additions to the prioritization list and asked staff to return with revised language and technical analysis for further review.
Next steps assigned at the meeting included staff preparation of clearer project scopes, cost estimates, and technical diagnostics for board review before returning revised language to Council.
