Council directs South Turn Circle stormwater retention be added to top priority

Councilmember White asked that the draft Adaptation Plan include a clearer scope for developing stormwater retention areas at the town’s recently acquired properties on South Turn Circle. Council directed by consensus that staff incorporate the South Turn Circle retention-area development into Priority #1 of the Adaptation Capital Improvements Projects Prioritization list.
Dr. Alec Bogdanoff, the plan’s presenter, described the scoring and prioritization process used to rank projects and answered questions about expected matches for grant-funded work; he advised "a good rule of thumb is to anticipate matching 50% of a project." Councilmembers discussed which projects could begin soon and how to sequence work so near-term capital improvements could be started while pursuing grant funds.
The Planning Board later supported the incorporation of the South Turn Circle retention development into Priority #1 by consensus and asked staff to provide clearer project scopes and cost estimates for board review.
